Enough is Enough: Citizens’ Lobby

Sometimes an institution becomes too sick to fix itself… Sometimes an institution, like an individual, needs an intervention, from people, from friends, from outside.                       —Lawrence Lessig

As a friend of our sick federal government, Coffee Party USA is conducting an intervention under the banner, “Enough is Enough: Citizens’ Lobby.” Those who can travel to Washington will be speaking out at the US Capitol on October 29, and then will visit with their representatives.

Others of us will be organizing and attending an event in Austin on October 29. Check this blog for an announcement of details.

A highly effective means of getting the attention of one’s elected officials is a hand-written letter, which is far more influential than a phone call, a typed letter, or an email. Because mail addressed to a congressional office is delayed for weeks by security measures, Enough is Enough is undertaking to hand-deliver our hand-written letters to Senators and Representatives on Monday, October 31. For E is E’s mailing address, stationery, and suggestions for talking points, see this page.
