Wisconsin Judges’ Impartiality in Doubt

Shades of Caperton v. Massey! A recent NY Times editorial relates a sordid tale of Wisconsin Supreme Court justices failing to recuse themselves from cases involving parties from whom they had received massive campaign contributions. As the editorial put it,

… over-the-top campaigning, self-interested rulings, and a complete breakdown of courthouse collegiality and ethics is destroying trust in its [Wisconsin’s] Supreme Court.

Apparently the writ of the US Supreme Court doesn’t extend to Wisconsin.
