Mark McKinnon, Republican political advisor and strategist, gave a talk at the CPM convention that really struck a chord with me:
If you want to make clear the corrupting influence of money in politics, ask people to consider the following: imagine that you had to raise your own salary. How much time would you need to spend to raise that amount of money? How much time would be left over to devote to your job?
The common enemy is corruption. Corporations are not inherently bad. It is money that is the corrupting influence, so we must stop the flow of money that manipulates congress.
